Doll Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, the movie by Alankrita Shrivastava, which has just released on Netflix, is more like an urbanized version of Lipstick Under My Burkha, the director’s another movie released in the year 2016. Konkon Sen Sharma and Bhumi Pednekar are in the lead roles of this movie.
The director has sinfully combined Konkona with Bhumi Pednekar in this film. Here, a woman’s story has been described by another woman. There is a number of scenes in the movie that will really touch the hearts.
The story is of two women, Dolly and Kitty. They are no extraordinary women. Any woman can easily relate to them. The two women are very mediocre but they dream big. Dolly aka Konkona wants her family to have good fortune. She works as an employee of accounts department in Noida.

She has a husband and two sons in her family. Dolly’s cousin Kitty comes to Noida from a small town of Bihar and takes a call center job. But she actually gives “romance” service to men.
The film shows the two lives beautifully, arranging that one after another. The two ladies dream of something big, coming out from their patriarchal society. The movie goes at the right pace. The music also suits the story well. But the movie has a lot of questions with no particular answers.
Konkona has proved herself again in the movie. Bhumi’s performance is impressive, but not her best. Amol Parashar and Vikrant Massey have supported them well. Finally, it’s the story of women we can see everywhere, whose dreams and needs are suppressed. One can watch it for brilliant acting.
