The movie Beast directed by Baltasar Kormakur will feature Idris Elba. It is a survival thriller by Universal Pictures. The original thought is of Jaime Primak-Sullivan. Ryan Engle has written the script. Engle has worked on Dwayne Johnson’s film Rampage.
The story of Beast, kept hidden in the savanna, is totally similar to The Shallows, as it is being known. The Swallows is another survival thriller. A lion is the predatory antagonist in the movie Beast whereas The Swallows features Blake Lively who was a surfer there stalked by a shark.
James Lopez and Will Packer’s Will Packer Productions will produce it along with Kormakur co-producing the film through RVK studios and Primak-Sullivan will be the executive producer.
Executive Vice President of Production of Universal Pictures, Matt Reilly, and Tony Ducret, the Creative Executive, will look after the project on the studios behalf.
Lopez, Packer, Primak-Sullivan and Engle is working together again after 2018 when they worked in Breaking, the thriller which starred Gabrielle Union.
Plot is not known properly except the fact that a lion will be the central antagonist in the film. Idris Elba will fight the lion, as it is being known.
Kormakur likes the survival thrillers. He has earlier directed survival thrillers like Everest of 2015 and Adrift of 2018. Adrift starred Sam Claflin and Shailene Woodley, and he has produced some TV series too.
Elba also has The Suicide Squad 2, the DC film by director James Gunn, which is going to release by August 2021. Margot Robbie and Taika Waititi will also be featured in the movie.
