Maara Movie Is The Remake Of Malayalam Film ‘Charlie’, Says Director Dhilip

Madhavan and Shraddha Srinath-starring movie Maara will soon hit the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video on December 17 and fans are excited about this project. This movie is helmed by Dhilip Kumar and it’s his first movie. He has also directed a couple of short movies like Kalki which was also a popular release among the viewers.

While interacting with the media, director Dhilip said a long time back he had decided to make a movie and with Maara, his dream is coming true.

Popular director AL Vijay was also called for this film that was supposed to be related to Martin Prakkat’s Malayalam hit Charlie. Since the time it was first introduced in 2016, numerous interesting changes were made to this Tamil remake.

Talented actor Madhavan had also joined the clan and the makers were excited about welcoming actor Parvathy who had done the original movie. At that point, actress Shraddha went ahead board, and the movie project started taking a completely different shape from the first movie.

‘The idea was not to do a remake. Madhavan and the production house were both particular about it,’ says debutant director Dhilip Kumar.

We took the plot from Charlie and created our story around it, director Dhilip said during an interview. Madhavan has done such adaptations before as he did a similar role in Anbe Sivam which was released in 2003.

Later the team talked about the impact of the ongoing situation on the industry and said it has affected the industry a lot.
