Malayalam Film Kayattam To Go To Busan Film Fest Along With Six Other Indian Movies

The Malayalam film Kayattam has been chosen for Busan International Film Festival. Actress Manju Warrier has made his debut as a producer in the film which is also titled Ahr.

It is one of the seven Indian movies that will be screened at the 25th Busan Film Fest. The festival will be held from 21st October to 30th October and it will be a toned-down program due to the current situation.

The Sanal Kumar Sasidharan directorial is bankrolled by Manju Warrier, Aruna Mathew and Shahid Mathew. Vedh Vibes and Gaurav Ravindran are featured in the movie whereas Manju herself has played the lead role.

Chandu Selvaraj is the cinematographer of Kayattam and Rateesh Eettillam has done the music. Sanal has done the editing and sound designing for this movie too, apart from writing the script himself. The movie is about mountaineering. Manju’s character is named Maya here.

Bittersweet directed by Ananth Narayan Mahadevan will be presented the Jiseok Award at the Busan Film Fest. The other Indian movies that have secured their places at the Korean film festival 2020 are Chaitanya Tamhane’s The Disciple, Suman Mukhopadhyay’s Bengali movie Captive which features Tanmay Dhanania, Shyam Madiraju’s Harami featuring Emraan Hashmi, Prithvi Konanur’s Kannada film Pinki Elli? and Ivan Ayr’s Meel Patthar.The Disciple is also the winner of Venice award.

The Kim Jiseok Award is presented in the memory of Kim Ji-seok. Kim devoted his life to searching for young Asian directors and he worked for the growth of Asian cinema. He passed away last year. Two films are awarded US$ 10,000 as a prize.
