Soul: A Tribute To Jazz And The Immaterial World From Pete Docter

Soul is the movie where a band teacher’s lifestyle is the base of the story. Joe is the name of the band teacher and his life went on in a way that he had not expected. Instead of being a middle-school band teacher, he was fond of jazz.


In the Pete Docter‘s movie, Jamie Foxx has played the character of Joe Gardner. The movie is co-directed by Kemp Powers and the excellent music of the film is directed by Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Jon Batiste.

Viewers expected that the new Pixar animation comedy film will release on big screen. But the decision of Hollywood studio to release it on OTT platform, has increased their outrage. As the pandemic situation is ongoing and all theaters are not open yet, the makers shifted it to streaming site from theaters.

On 10th October, the film has appeared at the London Film Festival. Soon in this week, it will be shown in Rome Film Festival. On 25th December this year, it will be released digitally.

Apart from Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey gave the key voice in the animation film. Phylicia Rashad, Questlove, Angela Bassett and Daveed Diggs have also given their voices for the movie. The movie is a tribute to Jazz’s vitality besides New York city and the immaterial world.

In the story, Joe got the chance to perform in a popular jazz club. Later he passed away and his soul was in another world. In that world, attributes given to the souls, and Joe took the chance to back in his own life that he just left. The movie has got rave reviews after screening at the BFI London Film Festival.
