Now when the motion poster is released, he is facing a lot of problems again. On Twitter, “Shame on Vijay Sethupathi” became a trend nowadays.
The netizens are against the decision of the actor. When the problem reached a high between the Srilanka government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, Muralitharan took a controversial standpoint. He expressed his support for the ruling Rajapaksa family and got flak for his statement.
The matter affected the Tamilians badly. So, when the actor decided to play the role of Muralitharan, fans couldn’t take it easy. The question is arising that how a Tamil actor can carry the Srilankan flag on his jersey.
Blaming the actors, the posts came out on social media saying, “#ShameOnVijaySethupathi, Murali is a Tamilian but he represents Srilanka & Srilankans. We have a lot of cricketing legends in our country.
Then why making Srilankan player biopic”. There is a question on the posts that Vijay Sethupathi bears the bloodstain flag on his chest. But some also defended the actor and stated the fact that all Sri Lankans were not against the Tamilians.
The title of the movie is based on Muralitharan’s wickets and the teaser showed his childhood, controversies, and success.
